Prof Simone Accordini graduated in Statistical and Demographic Sciences at the University of Padova in 1997 and got the specialization in Health Statistics at the University of Pavia in 2000.
Since 2014, he has been Associate Professor (MEDS-24/A - Medical Statistics) at the University of Verona.
In 2018, he got the Italian National Scientific Habilitation for the role of Full Professor (06/M1 - General and Applied Hygiene, Nursing and Medical Statistics).
His research activities are mainly focused on the epidemiology of respiratory diseases.
In particular, he:
- was coordinator of the Verona Unit within the Ageing Lungs in European Cohorts (ALEC) international project, which was funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme (grant agreement No. 633212);
- is member of the steering committee, Italian coordinator, coordinator of the Verona Unit, and coordinator of the working group Socio-economic burden of asthma in Europe, within the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) international multicentre study;
- is member of the steering committee and coordinator of the working group Genetic epidemiology, within the Gene Environment Interactions in Respiratory Diseases (GEIRD) national multicentre survey;
- is member of the scientific advisory board within the Respiratory Health In Northern Europe, Spain and Australia (RHINESSA) multicentre survey.
At present, he is member of the Junta of the Department of Diagnostics and Public Health, member of the Council of the School of Medicine and Surgery, member of the Human Research Approval Committee (CARP), and coordinator of the PhD Programme in Applied Life and Health Sciences of the University of Verona.
