Learning outcomes

The course aims to introduce the resident to healthcare research. Specifically, the resident will learn to:
• construct and interpret a frequency table from individual data
• adequately represent data relating to a biological phenomenon in graphical form
• calculate reference intervals (normality) for a biological variable
• assess the relative risk associated with a given exposure
• assess the sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value of a diagnostic test
• perform statistical tests to compare means or proportions
• measure the effect of a treatment and interpret its confidence interval
• estimate the relationship between biological variables using linear regression models
