The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery has teaching and research functions and guarantees the full integration of training, research and assistance activities carried out by its teachers in collaboration with the National and Regional Health Service. Starting from the academic year 2012/13 the School inherited the functions carried out by the Faculty of Medicine until the entry into force of Law no. 240/2010 which reorganized the university system. The School offers students training courses in the area of health professions, training doctors, specialists, health professionals and researchers who deal with human health and well-being. The educational offer has different levels that include: degree courses (3 years), master's degree courses (2 years), single-cycle master's degree courses (6 years), specialization schools and lifelong learning courses. The School's courses of study are with scheduled access; the number of students accessing the courses is established by the MIUR according to the forecasts of employment needs of the NHS. The following five Departments belong to the School: Department of Surgical, Odontostomatological and Maternal and Child Sciences, Department of Medicine, Department of Diagnostics and Public Health, Department of Neuroscience, Biomedicine and Movement, Department of Engineering for Innovation medicine
