Curriculum

Prof. Mirta Fiorio has a PhD in Psychological and Psychiatric Sciences. Her research topics are in the field cognitive neuroscience and specifically on placebo and nocebo effects in motor performance and on body representation in healthy subjects and in patients with movement disorders. She was awarded the David Marsden Award from the European Dystonia Federation, the Young Investigator Award from the Association for Research on Dystonia and the Susanne Vogelbach-Klein Prize for research on human movement.
Her main research lines are:
1) Top-down modulation of motor performance. Investigations with neurophysiological techniques (EMG, TMS and tDCS).
2) Body representation in different types of movement disorders (Parkinson's disease, dystonia, cerebellar ataxia, functional movement disorders).
