Dr. Bertoldo is  specialist in endocrinology and conducts  his clinical and research  activity  in a Internal Medicine Unit in Universitary Hopital since 1985. In the field of Endocrinology, he has mainly devoted to  phospho-calcium metabolism and metabolic and endocrinological fragilizing diseases of the skeleton in pediatric age, transition age and adulthood. Particularly has taken care of skeletal impact (and their treatments) of precocious puberty, GH defict, Hyper-and hypoparthyroidism,  osteoporosis, Paget's disease, skeletal involvement of eating disorders such as anorexia and obesity. A large part of  his scientific interest and clinical activity is occupied by the Osteoncologia, understood as everything related to the interaction between bone and cancer. In particular the pathophysiolgy  of the bone metastasis, the new therapies for the treatment of  bone Metastatis  and its complications,  the premetastatic niche and the CTIBL (cancer treatment bone loss) associated to the  adjuvant hormonal therapies in the  breast and prostate cancer. For these research activities  at national and international level, he served as  member of the Guidelines Board of the leading National Scentific Society in the field in Italy, such as SIOMMMS and AIOM (for the part related to the therapy of bone metastases).  Since 2016 he has coodinator of the Guidelines Board and vice president of SIOMMMMS. He has participated in the board of IOF (International Osteoporosis Foundation) position paper . He has participated with several international multicentric RCTs with competitive recruitment and also as co-investigator in  PRIN projects and AIFA funded project.
