Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide the main theoretical and practical elements related to the psychology of groups and organizations, with particular attention to the dynamics of communication and to work stress.


Map of the skills of the biomedical laboratory technician, in particular, analysis of transversal skills.
The communication: definitions, pragmatics of human communication (five axioms of communication ), proxemics, behavioral styles, emotional intelligence, active listening and empathetic communication.
The group: the group concept, types of groups, group work and group work, team building, structural phenomena of group (status, roles, leaders and leadership, standards), dynamic phenomena (cohesion,conformity,deviance conflict ).
The organization:culture and organizational climate; organizational well-being stress (definition, general adaptation syndrome, eustress, distress, stressor, the role of individual characteristics), locus of control, coping, resiliency, problem solving, psychosocial risks in organizations (burnout, mobbing).

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination (4 open questions).
The aim of the exam is the verification of the knowledge and the reasoning skills acquired by the student.
The written examination potentially regards all the topics carried out throughout the course and all the materials supplied.
