This course is about nosocomial infections, prticularly those more frequent inside Intensive Care Unit (ICU) wards, such as ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP), blood stream infections (BSI), surgical site infection and urinary tract infections (UTI).
I’ll discuss about their epidemiology, aetiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
Health-care associated infection (HAI): definition and epidemiology of the main infectious syndromes. Importance of surveillance of infectious episodes and of antibiotic resistance.
