Overview
The advanced Masters in Palliative Care was established pursuant to paragraph 1, Article 8 of the Law of 15 March 2010, No. 38 (Provisions to ensure access to palliative care and pain therapy) in order to provide practitioners with specific skills and expertise in palliative care (paragraphs 2 and 3, Article 5) who can work professionally in public or private health facilities and non-profit organisations operating in the field of palliative care (paragraph 3, Article 8).
The Masters aims to train doctors who can work in palliative care networks, providing them with theoretical knowledge and expertise in the caring for patients in advanced stages of disease for all kinds of evolutionary pathologies in all their aspects, from checking symptoms to the management of care teams and care pathways. Masters participants will acquire expertise in pathophysiology and pharmacology, diagnostics and clinical complications and symptoms prevalent in the final stages, as well as ethical and psychological issues. By the end of the course, they will be able to work professionally and independently in this field.
