Stefania Pontrandolfo is  associate professor of socio-cultural anthropology at the Verona University. She received her PhD in Social Anthropology and Ethnology at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She has held research and teaching positions in anthropological disciplines at several Italian universities (Bari, Basilicata, Florence, Verona). She has participated in international research projects (The Education of the Gypsy Childhood in Europe - OPREROMA; Explaining Low Fertility in Italy - ELFI; The immigration of Romanian Roma to Western Europe: Causes, effects, and future engagement strategies - MigRom). She has also carried out ethnographic studies in various socio-cultural contexts, mainly dealing with the culture, history and society of groups of Roma living in Southern Italy or those that have migrated from Romania to Italy. She is the author of several publications including La dissolution identitaire d'une communauté rom. Ethnographie d'une disparition (Paris, L'Harmattan, 2013); Rom dell'Italia meridionale (Rome, CISU, 2013); Romanian Roma migration to Italy: improving the capacity to aspire (in Leggio, Matras (eds.) Oxon, Routledge, 2018).
