Learning outcomes

Provide students with the knowledge of the main diseases of the voice, their perceptive characteristics, in order to be able to program a specific rehabilitative treatment plan.


Concept of euphony and dysphonia
The physiology of the vocal tract
Posture and voice
The management of cost-diaphragmatic breathing
The classification of dysphonia: congenital, acquired, organic and disfunctional dysphonia
Congenital dysphonia: laryngomalacia, congenital glottic diafragm cri du chat, laryngeal papillomatosis in childhood, vergeture and sulcus, epidermoid cysts
Acquired dysphonia. Organic: laryngitis, nodules, polyps, ritentional cysts, laringocele, submucosal hemorragy, laryngeal paralysis and neurological trouble.
The cancer of the larynx: voice and swallowing rehabilitation after partial and total laryngectomy.
Acquired dysphonia. Functional: hypokinetic and hyperkinetic dysphonia, vocal problem of children, disorders of the mutational voice, psychogenic dysphonia.
Instrumental semiotics for the evaluation of voice disorders: fiberoptic laryngoscopy, laryngeal stroboscopy, electroacoustic parameters: spectrogram, MDVP, vocalgram

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam consists of a written test based on open-ended questions. In response questions, it is required the ability to match the synthesis and clarity.
Each of the open questions is evaluated from 0 to 10 points, according to:
a) relevance of the answer
b) ability to synthesize
c) properties of language
