Students should be enabled to apply statistical theory, acquired in the 1st class, to practical clinical problems. In particular, students will be allowed to present and discuss statistical problems faced in preparing Master's degree thesis.
The course consists of theoretical-practical lessons, focused on the use of spreadsheets and statistical software STATA to quantitatively analyse biomedical data.
1. Descriptive statistics: measures of central tendency and variability, frequency tables and graphs
2. Statistical inference: confidence intervals and statistical tests (test t for unpaired and paired data, chi-squared test, correlation and regression, analysis of variance).

A written exam will be performed in the computer lab.
Students will have to solve problems of inferential statistics, which will require to compute confidence intervals and to perform simple statistical tests. For this purpose, each student will be given a computer, equipped with a spreadsheet and the statistical software Stata.
Exam modalities will change, if COVID-19 pandemia persists.
