Classification of short stature, diagnostic path, possibility of treatment. Bone and endocrine growth disorders.
Harmonic and disharmonic growth pathologies. Head circumference. Puberty and related events. Overweight and obesity, an outline of epidemiology. Genetics and epigenetics concepts. Body composition. Diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency and replacement treatment.
Chromosomal and genetic syndromes
Normal puberty, age-old trend, physiological variations from the norm and their classification.
Influences of environmental contaminants and lifestyles.
Precocious puberty - clinical, laboratory and instrumental diagnostics.
Treatment of early puberty with GnRH analogues, indications, follow-up and results
Endocrinological problems of the adolescent period.
Delayed puberty, polycystic ovary syndrome.
Skeleton functions and hormonal control of bone mass. Skeletal growth and growth control from the point of view of growth factors. Importance of exercise on growth. Bone mass and peak bone mass concept. Endocrine mechanisms of bone puberal maturation and in response to movement. Regulation factors of bone modeling and remodeling.
