Learning outcomes

Acquire the basic tools both for the observation of the child's behavior as a whole, and for the assessment of motor behavior in order to be able to identify physiotherapy problems in order of priority, draw up the objectives, plan and implement the therapeutic program, verify and evaluate the results.
Know the principles and current habilitation / rehabilitation approaches; knowing how to identify and apply the appropriate ones in reference to the objectives emerged from the observation, evaluation, the needs of the child in relation to himself, the family, the context and integrated into the rehabilitation project.

Syllabus

Principles of pediatric rehabilitation.
Approach to the newborn and the child: motor, cognitive, relational and communication skills acquired in particular in the first years of life and specifically significant in the habilitation / rehabilitation field.
Observation and evaluation as tools for the differentiation between the variables of normality and pathology during the development of psychomotor skills.
Evaluation tools of: functional systems, global motor skills, autonomy; ICF-CY.
Evolution of approaches and methodologies of habilitation, rehabilitation and psychomotor intervention.
Current approaches in the rehabilitation of motor development disorders and in orthopedic problems in developmental age.
Orthoses and aids as rehabilitation and self-help tools.

TEACHING METHODS
Lectures (with slides), presentation of clinical cases, work in small groups and discussion in plenary in order to try to bring what has been learned on a purely theoretical level into the concrete clinical case.

Written exam with both general and detailed questions, in relation to the topics covered in class. Oral exam in progress. The aim is to evaluate the results of the expected learning. The evaluation will be expressed out of thirty.

Written exam with both general and detailed questions, in relation to the topics covered in class. Oral exam in itinere. The aim is to evaluate the results of the expected learning. The evaluation will be expressed out of thirty.
