AIMS:
- To acquire the ability to recognize and describe signs and symptoms of diseases;
- To Know how to identify, in the patient’s medical history, the main points that guide the diagnostic process;
- To Know how to set a proper care plan on the basis of medical history and clinical signs.
Diseases of the following organs and systems:
- Digestive system: gastric and duodenal ulcer, inflammatory bowel diseases, diseases of the liver and biliary tract; cirrhosis and its consequences
- Urinary system: acute renal failure and chronic renal failure
- Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) disease (COVID-19)
Program in expanded form:
As part of the course is expected to analyze the following conditions:
1. Diseases of the digestive system
a. Diseases of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum (esophagitis, gastritis, peptic ulcer)
b. Inflammatory bowel diseases
2. Diseases of the liver and biliary tract
a. Jaundice, cholelithiasis and cholecystitis
b. Cirrhosis of the liver in different etiology
c. Clinical consequences of cirrhosis and portal hypertension
3. Diseases of the kidney and urinary tract
a. Acute renal failure/Acute kidney Injury
b. Chronic renal failure
4. - Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) disease (COVID-19)
Of diseases treated in the course, students should know and be able to describe:
- Definition and classification of the disease;
- The main pathophysiological mechanisms;
- Signs and symptoms of major diseases, including the diagnostic procedure for assessment of disease, care plan, and first therapeutic measures.
