Learning outcomes

Promotion and management of health and safety systems require knowledge and competences being able to recognize the organizational models and the organizational culture within which professionals operate. At the same time, health and safety managers should know the main obstacles to an unbiased analysis of organizational processes. From this viewpoint, the course aims to provide competences allowing to recognize individual, organizational and inter-organizational obstacles to safety and to lead to an organizational analysis of accidents/near miss.

Syllabus

The course will deal with the following subjects:

- What organizations are. Organizational models.
- Organizational cultural and its potential collateral effects.
- Individual, organizational and inter-organizational issues underlying organizational myopia.
- Organizational analysis of accidents based on practical cases.
