The course aims to enable students to apply statistical theory, acquired in the 1st class, to practical clinical problems, such as those faced to prepare Master's degree thesis.
The course consists of theoretical-practical lessons, focused on the use of spreadsheets and statistical software STATA to quantitatively analyse biomedical data.
1. Descriptive statistics: measures of central tendency and variability, frequency tables and graphs
2. Statistical inference: confidence intervals and statistical tests (test t for unpaired and paired data, chi-squared test, correlation and regression).

A written exam will be performed in the computer lab.
Students will have to solve problems of inferential statistics, which will require to compute confidence intervals and to perform simple statistical tests. For this purpose, each student will be given a computer, equipped with a spreadsheet and the statistical software Stata.
