Learning outcomes

The purpose is to introduce aesthetic anatomical concepts in oral and perioral regions, concerning patient's facial and psychological traits.
Physiognomy and aesthetic analysis will be addressed.
Causes of the aesthetic alterations will be dealt, by systematic approach, as far as this course's contents are concerned.
Therapeutic options and mono or multidisciplinary treatment plan will be analyzed.
At the end of the course, the students must try out knowledge about the aesthetic analysis concepts, choice in diagnosis tools, orientation in dysaesthetic causes and setting a treatment plan in order of main contests.

Syllabus

Introduction to facial and smile aesthetic analysis criteria, observation in patient's records and interpretation in missing data.
Physiognomy: our patients' body and soul.
The importance of static and dynamic evaluation in patient's face.
Dental anatomy nots concerning teaching contents.
Dental and smiling aesthetic parameters and white and red oral components analysis.
Aesthetic alterations causes: shape lesions, structure lesions, colour lesions, trauma, periodontal and decay lesions, orthodontic implications, oral and perioral hard and soft tissues aging. Causes of aesthetic alterations, mono or multidisciplinary treatment plan, therapeutic options.
"Worn dentition": a parabola in this learning as facing new challenge in modern dentistry .
