The course aims at providing students with the fundamental guidelines for understanding the pathophysiological bases, the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and the prognostic evaluation of hematological diseases that guide the Specialist in the clinical practice. Therefore the objectives of the course are as follows:
- contributing to the formation of a clinical-biological hematological culture that allows to assimilate new knowledge and new experience, both in the following phases of the course and in future professional practice;
- acquiring the capability of diagnosing correctly, prognostically evaluating and establishing the most appropriate treatment for hematological diseases.
- blood and bone marrow (investigation methods, embryogenesis, hematopoiesis, hematocatheresis)
- anemias (classification, clinical features and differential diagnosis)
- approach to hematological malignancies
- acute leukemias
- myelodysplasia, secondary malignancies and treatment complications
- chronic myeloproliferative neoplasia
- chronic lymphoproliferative disorders
- monoclonal gammopathies, myeloma
- hemostasis disorders
- hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and advanced cell therapies

Students will be orally examined about at least one/two subjects dealing with Hematology.
The mark will derive from the comprehensive evaluation of the appropriateness of the answers and the acquired competence
