Learning outcomes

1) To learn the clinical, diagnostic and treatment aspects of peripheral atherosclerotic diseases and of the most important cardiovascular risk factors

2) Recognition of certain symptoms and signs of cardiovascular disease,
3) Ability to assess the possible causes, severity and possible evolution of cardiovascular disease


- Epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases
- Definition of global cardiovascular risk
- Overview of physiopathology of atherosclerosis
- Arterial hypertension: definition, classification, associated organ damage
- Metabolic syndrome: epidemiology, definition, importance as a cardiovascular risk factor
- hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia: definition and importance as a cardiovascular risk factor
- Diabetes mellitus: epidemiology, definition, importance as a cardiovascular risk factor
