Learning outcomes

The course addresses the scope of the developing a critical care approach in chronic diseases. Specific aims are:
- recognition of the specific problems during the different phases of the chronic disease: acute phases, quiescence and relapse of disease;
- development of capacity to offer support to the person and his/her family due to the chronic disease different phases and help to redefine their ability and attitudes to adapt to the condition of having a chronic disease;
- give the fundamental elements to help the sick person and his/her family to cope with the condition of having to deal with a chronic disease;
- find out integrated and multidisciplinary approaches including health network to better cope with the chronic disease condition either for the sick person and his/her family.


Liver cirrhosis: main etiopathogenetic conditions, complications and principles of therapeutic approaches
Gastrointestinal diseases: GERD, gastritis
Malabsorption and malnutrition
General elements of acute and chronic renal failure
Acute and chronic pancreatitis
Oncohematologic diseases, leukemias and lymphomas
