The aim of the course is to provide a review of the main movement disorders, with particular reference to the most common one (Parkinson's disease). Within the course, in addition to theoretical notions, audiovisual materials will be used to exemplify the various movement disorders. Treatment options for Parkinson's disease and the therapies for advanced disease stage will also be presented. The main themes are:
- Pathophysiology of the extrapyramidal system (the anatomical ad pathophysiological substrate of movement)
- Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism: epidemiology, clinical diagnosis, differential diagnosis
- Treatment of Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism
- The advanced Parkinson's disease and therapies for this stage of the disease
- Video session on other movement disorders with particular reference to dystonia, tremors and hyperkinetic disorders (tics, myoclonus, dyskinesia, etc.

- Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism: epidemiology, clinical diagnosis, differential diagnosis
- Treatment of Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism
