To provide a basic introductory knowledge of general anthropology in terms of the content and methods of the discipline as well as the fundamentals of anthropology of the body.
As an introduction to anthropological knowledge several topics, from the most classic (such as the concept of culture and cosmology) to those most currently under debate (like the incorporation and suffering linked to structural violence, especially in multi-cultural societies) will be selected and discussed in detail. In line with the study course, matters concerning anthropology of the body, such as those regarding “body techniques” and “the pain-stricken body” will be proposed.
