Overview
On the basis of needs analysis, the Masters degree course aims to offer an in-depth study of prevention, which is considered underdeveloped and inadequately analysed in comparison to the protection of minors, which on the contrary possesses consolidated practices and procedures. The field of prevention is given strategic importance in order to avoid situations of unease that can become irreversible. Therefore, the Masters degree course shall provide professionals that work with minors – in particular social workers but also educators and psychologists – the opportunity to develop their competencies by directing them according to three main principles: “knowledge” of the phenomena, “assessment” and “programming” future interventions.
Brief description of the profession; objectives of the course according to:
1. Knowledge: developing the capacity to comprehend the evolution of the situation of minors and their families; acquiring the ability to identify elements of the unease of migrant families due to cultural factors; acquiring abilities for self development by way of one’s own personal experience, keeping an account in particular of the spheres of feeling and doing, listening and deciding.
2. Ability: developing the ability to create and support formal and informal networks in the formation of joint responsibility; developing the ability to program educational interventions capable of actively involving minors, families and institutions.
3. Competencies: developing competencies in the assessment of processes that support and/or recuperate parents as well as carry out interventions in support of minors; providing new instruments of assessment for the professional social worker, also by making use of innovative personal experiences.
