The 1st level Masters in Advanced nursing for the epidemiological monitoring and control of infections related to care processes (ICPA) aims to develop specific, advanced skills in clinical care, consultancy and training, assessment, prevention and control of infections in hospitals and territorial health and social centres. At the end of the training course the Nurse in charge of the control of infections is able to: - carry out a global assessment of an event or an infective disease in an individual patient or in a specific clinical context, including documentation related to the incidence and contributing factors of the disease; - identify sources and define measures to contain the spread of the infection in the patients, staff and environment; - collect information on the frequency and characteristics of infections and on hazardous procedures; - participate in programmes to control infections and reduce environmental risks; - analyse and distribute the results of epidemiological investigations; - in multidisciplinary teams identify the areas that require more in-depth studies and activate strategies of direct intervention to control the most serious infections in hospitals and residential areas;> - provide supervision and consultancy for colleagues to encourage actions aimed at containing the spread of infections, based on the scientific evidence available, - use methods and tools of research to improve the quality of nursing in relation to technical-scientific developments and knowledge, also by participating in research projects at local and national level; - participate in the training of nursing, technical and support staff to facilitate the adoption of behaviour aimed at reducing the spread of infections inside and outside hospitals;
