Learning outcomes

Possessing basic concepts for the evaluation of renal function, understanding the indications for renal replacement therapy in chronic and acute conditions. Knowledge of the basic principles for haemodialysis, purification methods and operational parameters of monitor machines. Recognizing the different kind of vascular access for dialysis.

Syllabus

Chronic renal failure (CRF). Elements of evaluation of the various stages.
Types of renal replacement therapies for CRF patients. Criteria for initiating extracorporeal dialysis replacement therapy.
Acute renal failure (AKI). AKI: definition and classification.
Indications at the beginning of dialysis replacement therapy during AKI. Modes and techniques of extracorporeal dialysis during AKI.
