Learning outcomes

New diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in Internal Medicine in the post-genomic era, therole of genome wide studies and large clinical trials.
To improve the knowledge regarding how clinical trials are performed, how they are regulated by the law and ethical implications for clinical research in humans including national and internation legislation to protect human rights.
To improve the knowledge regarding the role of clinical trials to define guidelines.

Syllabus

Internal Medicine in the post-genomic era: the genome-wide studies
Methodologies and regulation of clinical trials
Ethical issues related to clinical trials
Ethical issues associated to new approaches by genome-wide studies
The use of placebo in clinical trials, limits and appropriateness
The proper use of guidelines in Internal Medicine
New issues related to the appropriate use and regulation by the law in the preventive and diagnostic-therapeutic approach by biomolecular tests in Internal Medicine.
