Learning outcomes

The course will aim at providing students with principles of neurological clinical reasoning, knowledge of main disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, skills in managing neurological patients in a dental setting.
Major topics of the course will include the basis of the syndromic, topographical and etiological diagnosis.


Neurological examination. Major topographical syndromes. laboratory investigations.
Cranial neuropathies. Movement disorders: Parkinson disease and atypical parkinsonisms, tremors, dystonia, chorea; ataxias. Acute and chronic neurocognitive disorders: delirium, dementia. Epilepsy. Stroke. Syncope. Coma. Headache and craniofacial pain. Multiple Sclerosis. Disorders of neuromuscular transmission. Motor Neuron Disorders and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Peripheral neuropathies.
