Learning outcomes

To offer students the scientific and philosophical knowledges which had brought up the reflections which led to the formulation of the "Theory of evolutionism2 by mutation and natural selection (the so called "neodarwinism"). Discuss the main biological and genetic mechanisms responsible for the natural biological variation

Syllabus

Basic concepts in Population Genetics. Allelic and genotipi frequencies. The Hardy-Weinberg principle. Genetic mutations. Natural and sexual selection. Biodiversity and the paradox of the human genome. Genetics and darwinism. The postgenomic era and the precision medicine.
