Learning outcomes

Medical students will be able to grasp basic knowledge related to epidemiology, classification, pathophysiology, methodological and diagnostic istopathological and clinical approaches, impact of treatment on natural history of main hematological, reumathological, allergic, gastroenterological, infectious and cutaneous disorders.


The aims are: to focus on clinical elements that justify the intervention of the Specialist; to know how to clinically distinguish degenerative from inflammatory rheumatic diseases; to learn the different diagnosis elements of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, calcinosis and spondyloarthritis; to readily link clinical elements to possible multisystemic rheumatic diseases, in particular to connectivitis and vasculitis; to comprehend main degenerative bone diseases, both primary and secondary; to learn laboratory procedures and to understand laboratory reports; to be able to identify osteoarticular damages in x-ray images.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will be orally examined about at least one/two subjects dealing with Rheumatology.
The mark will contribute to the arithmetic average together with those of each examiner of the other disciplines to determine the final grade.
