Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Take care of women after hysterectomy and ovarian cancer surgery, considering the effects on sexual health and reproductive life.
- Know the main pregnancy related diseases.
- Attend pathological post-partum.
- Be familiar with strategies to promote and support breastfeeding, knowing the differences between breastmilk and formula milk.
- Give proper care to woman and newborn during out-of-hospital birth, having increase with the course the knowledge of assisting spontaneous delivery and physiological third stage.


- Aid women after hysterectomy and ovarian cancer surgery: consequences and impact on reproductive function loss.
- Assist and monitor women with pregnancy related disorders: gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hypertension and its complications.
- Spontaneous delivery and physiological third stage with proper umbilical cord care.
- Post-partum complications: post-partum haemorrhage and depression.
- Breastfeeding: strategies to promote breastfeeding and differences between breastmilk and formula milk.
- Assist women during out-of-hospital birth.
The student can choose and use any neonatal, obstetrics/ gynecology books.
