Learning outcomes

Basic notions on growth and development and its clinical application form birth to adolescence; notions of the influence of family, community, and society on children health and disease; attainment of communication skills that facilitate clinical interaction with children, adolescents, and their families; notions of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in pediatrics; attainment of performing a physical examination of newborns, children and adolescents and to diagnose (plus notes of treatment) the most common acute and chronic diseases of children.

Syllabus

1) Acquisition of basic knowledge of growth and development (physical, physiological and psycho-social) and their clinical application from birth to adolescence
2) Development of communication skills that will facilitate clinical interaction with children, adolescents and their families, so as to ensure the accurate and complete collection of data
3) Development of skills in examining infants, children and adolescents
4) Acquisition of the knowledge necessary for the diagnosis (and initial treatment) of the common acute and chronic diseases
5) Development of the ability to solve clinical problems
6) Acquisition of knowledge regarding the influence of family, community and society on the child, both in terms of health and illness
7) Acquisition of knowledge related to the most common problems in the clinic from the point of view of differential diagnosis: Otitis media, Cough Fever, Skin problems, Allergic skin reactions, Pharyngitis, Incidents and poisonings, Sup airway infection, Allergic rhinitis, Vomiting and diarrhea , Abdominal pain, CNS problems, Obesity, Skin wounds, Problems of extrem. Infer, Control visits.
8) Acquisition of knowledge related to the main causes of death in children and adolescents between 0 and 19 years: Congenital prematurity anomalies and IUGR SIDS RDS; Newborn with maternal complications; Unintentional incidents; Malignant neoplasms; Heart diseases; homicides; Suicides.
