Master II in Clinical Practice based on Efficacy Tests: Evidence-Based Practice and Health Technology Assessment (Trento)

Overview

Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) is a decision-making approach for the clinical management of patients. It helps assess impact in terms of potential benefits and risks, integrating clinical expertise with external scientific evidence and the patient’s own values and preferences. Health Technology Assessment is a multidisciplinary approach that analyses clinical, organisational, economic, ethic and social implications through healthcare technology. Here, “technology” is to be understood in a broad sense, including medications, medical treatments, devices and procedures.
The Masters is a high quality training programme that addresses these two key principles for decision-making in the healthcare field, giving graduates the expertise to able to autonomously understand, use and develop EBP and HTA concepts. The course will also address the actual dissemination of these two methods in national healthcare. The course aims to achieve its objectives through three phases: i) provide participants with tools and methods to understand the theoretical fundamentals of informed decision making as applied either to single patients (EBP) or general healthcare strategies (HTA); ii) guide participants to become autonomous in managing and producing decision making documents; iii) develop participants’ basic knowledge to build learning paths.
