Il prof. Fava è specialista in Medicina Interna, si occupa di fattori di rischio cardiovascolare, in particolare ipertensione arteriosa e sindrome metabolica. Gestisce gli ambulatori dell’ipertensione in età pediatrica ed in gravidanza. Inoltre, si occupa di diagnostica vascolare specializzata mediante ultrasonografia e tonometria (misurazione di spessore medio-intimale, distensibilità vasale, analisi e velocità dell’onda di polso, funzione endoteliale).
I suoi interessi di ricerca si concentrano specialmente sulla genetica delle malattie complesse e sul rapporto tra alimentazione, attività fisica, acidi grassi e fattori di rischio cardiovascolare.
