I am a neurologist who was trained in research studying prion diseases. At present, my research activity includes all neurodegenerative diseases due to protein misfolding. In particular, Alzheimer's disease, alpha-synucleinopathies and tauopathies. The main focus is to provide an intra vitam molecular diagnosis of these disorders using oligomeric seeding assays such as RT-QuIC, as already done in Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
Diagnostic techniques currently in use in our laboratory include biochemical analyses and Real-Time Quaking Induced Conversion assay (RT-QuIC).
