Learning outcomes

L’insegnamento si propone di educare criticamente lo studente alla conoscenza dei principali meccanismi eziopatogenetici delle patologie ad interesse odontostomatologico.
Di far conoscere i meccanismi di danno cellulare e molecolare e le reazioni riparatrici che que-sto innesta con particolare riferimento allo sviluppo del processo infiammatorio e della ripara-zione delle ferite, e ai meccanismi emostatici e di riparazione del danno vascolare.
lnfine si illustreranno le principali metodiche di imaging diagnostiche e molecolari in uso clinico. Lo studente acquisirà conoscenze sui principi di radioprotezione sia per i pazienti che per gli operatori sulle interazioni delle radiazioni con la materia e sugli effetti collaterali indotti dalle radiazioni ioniz-zanti.

MODULO PATOLOGIA ODONTOSTOMATOLOGICA
Obiettivi formativi: Il corso si propone di educare criticamente lo studente alla conoscenza dei principali meccanismi eziopatogenetici delle patologie ad interesse odontostomatologico di natura infettiva, infiammatoria, autoimmune, pre-neoplastica, neoplastica benigna e maligna.
• Introduzione alla patologia speciale odontostomatologica
• Malattie del cavo orale con eziopatogenesi infettiva del cavo orale
• Malattie della mucosa orale con eziopatogenesi autoimmunitaria
• Malattie del cavo orale con eziopatogenesi flogistica e/o reattiva
• Granulomatosi oro-facciali
• Le manifestazioni precancerose e il carcinoma squamocellulare del cavo orale

MODULO ELEMENTI DI RADIODIAGNOSTICA PER IMMAGINI E RADIOPROTEZIONE
Obiettivi formativi: Al termine di questo modulo di lezioni, lo studente sarà in grado di comprendere le principali metodiche di imaging diagnostiche e molecolari in uso clinico. Lo studente acquisirà nozioni utili sulle principali indagini diagnostiche per immagini in odontostomatologia, con particolare riguardo ai principi fisici delle energie impiegate, agli effetti collaterali, alle modalità di formazione delle immagini. Conoscere le indicazioni delle diverse indagini. Apprendere nozioni base di anatomia e semeiotica radiologica. Familiarizzare con l’imaging delle patologie di maggiore interesse come carie, lesioni periapicali, cisti, tumori, lesioni traumatiche. Lo studente acquisirà conoscenze sui principi di radioprotezione sia per i pazienti che per gli operatori sulle interazioni delle radiazioni con la materia e sugli effetti collaterali indotti dalle radiazioni ionizzanti, e su come comportarsi di conseguenza.

MODULO PATOLOGIA GENERALE
Obiettivi formativi: L’obiettivo fondamentale del Corso di Patologia è l’acquisizione degli strumenti concettuali e scientifici per spiegare le cause e i meccanismi di danno cellulare e molecolare e delle malattie umane. Il programma comprende i principali fattori patogeni chimici, fisici e biologici e i loro effetti (danno biologico) sulla materia vivente, sulle cellule e sui tessuti, le reazioni al danno biologico che sono determinanti nel processo di guarigione/riparazione o di patologia, con particolare riferimento ai meccanismi dell’immunità, dell’infiammazione, della guarigione delle ferite e della cronicizzazione dei processi patologici. Il corso ha l’obiettivo di illustrare le reazioni riparatrici che il danno cellulare e molecolare innesta con particolare riferimento allo sviluppo del processo infiammatorio e della riparazione delle ferite, e ai meccanismi emostatici e di riparazione del danno vascolare.

Medical Imaging: introduction. X rays. Image formation: esposition factors and radio-geometrics. X-rays detectors: analogical and digital. Image digitalization. Imaging techniques: orthopantomography, cephalometry, computed tomography, cone beam CT, ecography and magnetic resonance. Radiological anatomy. Imaging of pathology: caries, periapical lesions, cystic lesions, tumours, trauma. Temporo-mandibular joint imaging. Radioprotection in odontostomatology.

• Introduction to special odontostomatological disease • Macroscopic head / neck anatomy: oral cavity, paranasal sinuses, pharynx (pharynx liver-laryngitis), neck, vascularization and innervation of the head-to-neck structures • Macroscopic anatomy of the oral cavity: the superior of the horse, jaw, tongue, palate of the oral cavity, the oral floor, major salivary glands, dental apparatus, vascularization and innervation of the oral cavity, sinuses Jaws and paranasals. Microscopic anatomy: histological analysis of the constituent tissues of the oral cavity and its anomalies • Oral cavity diseases with oral cavity infectious etiopathogenesis: viruses (herpes viruses, coxsackie virus, human papilloma virus), bacteria (actinomycosis, tuberculosis, gonorrhea, syphilis), of mycoses (oral candidiasis). Focal infection theory. • Oral mucosa with autoimmune etiopathogens: recurrent apical stomatitis, Behcet syndrome, lichen planus, drug and amalgam lichenoid reactions, necrotic ulcerative stomatitis, multiforme erythema, penophicosis, penicillin, allergic contact stomatitis and oral allergic syndrome • Oral cavity disorders with flogistic and / or reactive etiopathogenesis: fibrous, pyogenic granuloma, peripheral gigantic cellular granuloma, peripheral ossification fibrous, fecal epidermis • Golden-facial granulomatous: pathogenesis of granulomatous diseases, Crohn's disease, Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome, sarcoidosis, foreign body granulomatous • Pre-cancerous manifestations and squamous cell carcinomas of the oral cavity: dysplasia and cellular atipia, leukoplakia, erythroplakia, chili aptitude, squamous cell carcinoma (etiopathogens, risk factors), oral cavity biopsy (timing and execution mode, reading of report

Examination Methods

The evaluation consists of 3 written assignments (one for each Unit: General Pathology, , Elements of Radiodiagnostics for Images and Radioprotection, Odontostomatological pathology ) with multiple choice questions.
The specific evaluation criteria for each assignment are shown on the web page of each single Unit.
The exam is considered valid if a positive evaluation is achieved in each assignment.
The final grade is calculated as a weighted average of the grades achieved in each Unit.
